Who doesn’t love Sherpa!? Dare I say it’s my favorite fall fabric type? I knew I wanted to make a cropped jacket and knew I wanted something beige. I found exactly what I was looking for which you can find here. ( I selected the color “tan”)

The buttons I selected are here.

It took me a while to find the right pattern because what I had in my head was super simplistic but also specific. I decided that I would just modify the Mccalls Pattern #8011
I ditched all the extras ( arm cuffs, pockets, and the bottom) and also enlarged the collar. I just made my best guess at it ( and happened to turn out the way I wanted).
What I love about this fabric is that it’s not as messy to work with. I’ve used a lot of faux fur
fabric in the past and while it’s not necessarily difficult to work with, it gets EVERYWHERE.
Don’t get me wrong there will be some mess, but it’s nothing compared to what I’ve seen hah!
This whipped together very fast. I didn’t follow the pattern for the button and button holes but instead added trim and then added the buttons to the trim. Here’s a photo of my inspo, and how it turned out!

Reading this post about the cropped sherpa coat was really fun because it shows how simple fashion pieces can still feel warm and stylish at the same time. It reminded me of winter days when I try to stay cozy but still keep up with school tasks online. Last season, I was overwhelmed with assignments, so I used online class assistance for a bit of help while managing my time better. Small comfort pieces like this jacket really make cold days feel nicer and more relaxed.
What kind of trim did you use?
