Cruella Kyra

I. Love. [faux] Fur. Like, I truly really love it. I feel this look is part John Snow, part Cruella de Vil.

As soon as I started learning to sew with my mom I knew a fur coat would soon live in my closet. I currently own 19 faux fur vests ( not really, but probably close), but no fur coats. I have been however, renting multiple fur coats this season through Rent The Runway Unlimited, but had none to call my own. Cue the sad music.

I foraged the interwebs FOR DAYS in hot pursuit of the perfect faux fur fabric. I had narrowed it down to a couple when I got an email from Joann's that they were having a sale on faux fur. #Blessed They happened to have this fur in stock at the local store, so I picked up a couple of yards and some lining which was all the McCalls pattern called for.

The pattern itself was actually pretty easy for a beginner like myself. The only time consuming part was trimming the fur everywhere that you'd be stitching, which is obviously A LOT. It very much looked like a wild animal had shed it's winter coat all over the house. There was fur EVERYWHERE. I'm still lent-rolling what I wore when working on this coat. Don't get me wrong though, it was totally worth it. Hopefully my mom would agree. Did I mention it was her house that was covered in fur?
